TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
Technology transfer is the process of moving inventions from the research lab to the end users in the marketplace. Howard Community College, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, has developed an exciting new course that teaches budding entrepreneurs that operation between development and delivery to the marketplace.
While working directly with participating research labs, such as John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, Goddard Space Flight Center and United States Department of Agriculture, the Taking Innovation to Market (ENTR-215) course is designed to teach teamwork, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Teams of high school, community college, and continuing education students are guided by faculty, mentors, and inventors to evaluate a technology, perform market research, and analyze the potential for commercialization. At the end of the course, the students participate in a public event and present their findings and recommendations to business owners, entrepreneurs, researchers, technology transfer experts, and venture capitalists.
This web site is designed to help you recognize the importance of the Technology Assessment Program, started in the Fall 2006 at HCC and supported by NSF Grant.
