Innovative Challenge turned science into reality

Students from the class ENTR – 915 ”Technology Transfer from Invention to Marketplace” on December 6, 2006 explored the exciting world of Technology Transfer, helping move inventions from laboratory to the marketplace. Four teams of students made final presentation projects such as Med-E-Tag,  Term-A-Mite, Batter-Up, and SpaceTemp. We’ve seen students come to the HCC with nothing more than an interest in Technology and leave this course with a word of opportunities open to them.

“- The caliber of invention is remarkable – said Jeff Franco, mentor of TAP participants.

I’ve found working with these students through the process to be a very worthy investment.”

Text Box: Today, the transfer of technologies developed by the federal government to the private and nonfederal public sector is mandated by Congress under Public Law 96-480.
The public sector benefits when it brings developed technologies to bear on solving local and regional problems, such as environmental pollution, fire hazards, and public safety challenges.
The purpose of these collaborations is to make available government- funded lab developed technology to support business and industry, create jobs, solve local and regional problems, increase productivity, and strengthen the U.S. economy.
Private industry benefits though receiving rights to inventions that can be developed commercially. Technology transfer assist in small business creation, and deliver the benefits of high-end technology to American consumers.
