Text Box: The demand for Technology Transfer has grown exponentially in the past few decades. The Federal Technology Transfer Act of 1986 has developed tools and services to ensure that the efforts of Federal engineers and scientists are not left on the shelf. There’s an enormous amount of technology and capability that could be applied to the user community’s needs and it’s just not coming . From medicine to transportation to communications, Americas research facilities investigate everything that is known and extract knowledge from the previous unknown. Usually technology development is completed by researchers in a laboratory, not really in contact with those who should use it.
So it’s driven by technology development and not by the circumstantial concerns or wishes of those who would like to have this type of technology. This creates a challenge with marketing. Technology Transfer is the intersection between business, science, engineering, law and government
Course ENTR-915 “Technology Transfer from Invention to Marketplace” at Howard Community College is only a small representation of how cutting-edge federal laboratories’ expertise becomes prevalent in our everyday lives through the execution of technology transfer. With innovative thinking, new generations of young people can design technologies that harness and use energy more efficiently. Technology Assessment Program will assist small businesses, and deliver the benefits of high-end technology to American consumers.

New Technology Help to Generate Energy

According to the report from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, wind power, solar and bio-energy each have tremendous potential. None of these promising advances are likely to happen tomorrow; research takes time and money. And the private sector, before leaping into the unknown, needs to be reasonably sure that their decisions will ultimately affect their bottom lines positively.

As the popularity of wind energy grows rapidly, researchers at Sandia National Laboratories developed ways to lower the cost of alternative energy and enable turbine to produce more power. New wind turbine blade designs have the potential to reduce the total cost of harnessing the wind’s energy so that it becomes a viable alternative to natural gas and other nonrenewable energy sources.
